Mechelle Avey has always had a passion for books. Even as a young girl,
when her

siblings were playing outside, Avey could be most often be found in
her room, curled up with a book. Her teen years were spent devouring
J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. With such a passion for the printed word,
it's not surprising that Avey has continued her love affair with books, now
as an author.
In 2000, Avey's first book,
A Lifetime Loving You
was published.
New York Times bestselling author, Pamela Morsi said of Avey,
"She makes me laugh."
Avey's second book,
Deeply, dealt with more
serious issues, exploring the theme of race and acceptance amidst the
boundaries of a grieving family. The book earned a four-star rating from
Romantic Times Magazine.
In her first non-fiction book,
Ms. Thang's Guide to Fly, written under the pseudonym of Aine A. Thang,
Avey tapped into the cultural roots of black American humor to draft a roadmap for young women
seeking a way to make better life choices.
Now, with her fourth book
Gateway, due out near
the end of 2008, Ms. Avey returns to her first love, fiction. Gateway is a
tautly written romantic suspense novel that will have Mechelle Avey readers
on the edge of their seats.
